My Bio
I grew up in Houston and attended Strake Jesuit High School. I went to Spring Hill College (a Jesuit college in Mobile, Alabama) and after graduating from there attended graduate school at the University of Tennessee in Knoxville. My first real job was teaching chronic behavior problem emotionally disturbed junior and senior high school students in Knoxville. I loved the job but the pay was inadequate.
I have a sister in Dallas who coaxed me into moving there for economic opportunity and thanks to her I got involved in the buying and selling of oil country tubular goods (aka steel pipe) at the beginning of the 70’s oil boom. I stayed in this business a long time, moved back to Houston and eventually started my own company doing international work on pipeline and down-hole projects around the western hemisphere. Like many other people, the world really opened up to me in the oil business. The pure awe involved in the industry of producing energy and the teams of people who have to depend on each other to make it work successfully enabled me to understand and appreciate what it takes to be successful in business.
In the late 80’s the pipe business went overseas and I got involved in the business of publishing periodicals for many of the oil and gas companies I had worked with in my past. I also got involved in some business ventures and started “Doorway to Houston” which marketed tourism related services to over 30,000 travelers every month. By this time in my life I was married and had two young sons and my wife and I yearned for a simpler life. We bought a historic home in New Braunfels in 1989 and started spending our free weekends visiting here. We liked it so much that we moved here for good in 1995.
My experience with the property we bought helped me find my way to becoming a real estate broker and I have been one ever since.
